MEYERBEER, Giacomo (1791-1864). Composer.
Autograph Letter Signed in French to an unnamed lady ('Madame!'), 1½ pages 8vo, on writing paper with his elaborately embossed initials, 'Mardi', no date, but probably 1849. Sending a ticket for Le Prophète and expressing himself appreciative of the honour she does him in attending his opera and in offering to present him to the Duchesse de Maillé.
Meyerbeer's Prophète was first produced in Paris in 1849, thirteen years after his outstanding success with Les Huguenots and was greeted with great popular acclaim.
