Lengthy Autograph Letter Signed to Francis Charles Parry, 6 pages 4to, Batsford Park, 13 October 1829. A heartfelt and strong letter of condemnation of his nephew, who was evidently on the brink of ruin.

'... I fully authorise you to use to him whatever language you may think best calculated to raise in his mind a just sense of the necessity, the absolute necessity of a total change. The complete abandonment of every thing which has tended to his ruin. I am fully persuaded that tenderness on this subject is not mercy. ...'

Redesdale's correspondent in this case may perhaps be Francis Charles Parry (1870-1878), a commissionery of bankrupts, probably also the same who is mentioned as having owned a 1632 (second) Folio of Shakespeare (the 'Perkin's Folio') and rather carelessly lost it (see John Payne Collier ..., by Arthur Freeman and Janet Ing Freeman, Yale, 2004, Vol. 1 pages 634 ff.
