Autograph Letter Signed to 'My dear Professor' (Richard Owen's received stamp at the head), on embossed note paper of the Privy Council Office, 2 pages 8vo, 15 June [1883]. Reporting that the Duc d'Aumale is to dine 'with the Club', an occasion when Owen is to take the chair.

'... Nothing could be more fortunate than that it should devolve on you to preside with our Royal Colleague comes over. ...'

The act of exception, passed in this year, deprived all members of France's reigning families of their military positions.
