SELOUS, Frederick Courteney (1851-1917). Hunter and explorer.
Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Holland, 4 pages 8vo on black-edged paper, Barrymore House, Wargrave, Henley on Thames, 22 January 1893. Informing him of the terms on which he had sold the rights to his new book.

'I yesterday sold the first edition of my forthcoming book (3000 copies) for £750 cash down, and I get a royalty of 5/ a copy should another edition be printed later on. Mr Leask came up from Brighton, and it was necessary for me to settle at once ... I sold this edition to Rowland Ward and Co which may surprise you. Bentley bid also £750 ... and it was a question whether I should give it to him or to Ward ... in the case of competition the first spontaneous offer was the only one to be considered. ...'
