Autograph Letter Signed to Leonard Baker, 1½ pages 8vo (worn in one fold and a little soiled), Ambleside, 27 September ['1871' in another hand in pencil]. Discussing the remarks of Professor Jenkins on the subject of mechanical drawing.
'... they are without doubt entirely correct - the drawing of those mechanical solids and their shadows is a ridiculous & useless child's play - as regards art, and child's torment as regards children. ...'
