Autograph Letter Signed ('T E Shaw') to Dorothy [Chamberlain], 1 page small 4to on light-brown deckled paper with (blank) envelope, M[otor] Y[acht] Varis, 19 September 1934. A charming and unususal letter to a young girl, describing the yacht, which is to be laid up for the winter.

'Here's a note to you written in the "Varis" which you know so well. We (your Father & I) have been looking over her, rather sad at laying her up for the winter. She is such a nice little ship. However they are going to keep her quiet and warm through the winter, and let's hope you'll have more visits to her next year. Send me word, and I'll turn up too!'

Not in The Letters of T.E. Lawrence, ed Richard Garnett, nor other known published sources. Dorothy's father had requested Lawrence's autograph for her, but he had refused and sent this delightful note instead.
