ST VINCENT, John Jervis, Earl of (1735-1823). Admiral of the fleet.
Letter Signed ('St Vincent') to John Lempriere, 1 page folio, 'Ville de Paris in the Tagus', 13 March 1798. Thanking Lempriere for three letters 'giving an account of the sailing of the Spanish Fleet', and urging him to continue his communications.
'... The Privateer you was so obliging to write by, I believe came close to us the evening we weighed from before Cadiz; having that operation in contemplation we did not send a Boat on board her. ...'
