DRINKWATER, John (1882-1937). Playwright and poet. Autograph Letter Signed to Miss Wheeler, 1 page 8vo (browned in the folds), 260 Mary Street, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, 12 April 1914. Thanking her for her letter of congratulations on his play and apologising for the delay in replying ('I have been away with our Company in Nottingham and a good deal of correspondence has been neglected in consequence.') In 1913 Drinkwater was able to leave his tedious job in insurance to become a full-time member of the Birmingham Repertory Company, acting in, as well as writing, plays. [No: 20102]
