The Enemy always greatly outnumbering me; and besides other small Affairs, I ordered & directed the number of Troops for the attack of the Shinwarries ... I planted the British Colors on the Balla Hissa; and send a force (in opposition to the recorded protest of General Nott) to release not only the British but many native prisoners. I also released and brought away about 500 Cripples - unable to walk - frost bitten and otherwise maimed ... General Nott joined me two days after I had reached Cabul. ...'
