SHAW, George Bernard (1856-1950). Playwright.
Two printed compliments cards, one with the date only in Shaw's hand ('27/6/28'), the second with an Autograph Note Signed (initials), 20 June 1922. Returning a play with little encouragement ('You will have to take your talent more seriously'), and advises the inclusion of name and address on manuscripts ('I am not sure that this is your play: if not, the fault is yours')

'This does not seem to me quite big enough for its boots, or for the great trouble & expense of producing it. ...'

Both pieces are enclosed in an envelope stating: 'This note was to Grannie Mai who had sent something she wrote for G.B.S. to criticise)'.
